Fs2 children celebrated Earth day by dressing up in Earth day colours. They discussed and shared the message of how to save the earth with their friends and made a beautiful Earth day craft.
As part of Happiness Day, the FS 2Team welcomed all children for Pyjama Party, wherein small things makes us happy was the idea behind the songs and story-based activities. Celebrations began with a beautiful song. Later the children watched a story on the lines of being happy with whatever we have and giving everyone a chance to do their best and be unique. Techers enacted in the story The Little Fish and the children were excited to see it. FS2 children danced to the tune of an Arabic song and prepared a craft of an Emirati boy and an Emirati girl. They were also shown the pictures of the games played by the Emirati children in the past.
Padlet link of FS2: https://padlet.com/shwetat_win/fuho5xnla26w1yh A live session was hosted by biologists of The Emirates Zoo with a question & answer opportunity while walking through the zoo and the park. The children were showed different endangered animals like tigers, elephants, leopards, white Siberian tigers etc. The biologists also shared the details about the animals and why it is important to protect them. The tour was held during school hours and duration was of approximately 45 minutes. FS children celebrated International Women’s Day through an array of activities. Through discussions students realised that boys and girls are equal and can grow up to be anything they want to be. Children drew inspiration from the story of Amelia Earhart and shared what they want to be when they grow up. Children made a card for the special women in their families. The children in the FS2 celebrated Makers Day by creating a maze using different available materials like legos, blocks, cardboard, straws. Next, they pasted sight words inside the maze. Children had to find their way to the finishing point by reading the words that come on way. They were excited to build their own game and had fun playing with it. The aim was to foster creativity, innovation and develop critical thinking skills.
In FS2 Humanities Day, children were taken to a virtual field trip to a Museum where they saw different prehistoric animals and learnt many exhilarating facts about them. They enjoyed trying different dinosaur YOGA positions along with their parents and were encouraged to post their best Yoga positions on Padlet wall. Parents enthusiastically shared videos talking about Pre-historic animals using different techniques like virtual reality(ITC tool), books, pictures, etc. In the end of the lesson children were asked to come up with ideas for ‘What did people in the stone age use to decorate their caves when there was no paint?’. They creatively came up with ideas like stones, burnt wood ashes, berries, fruits, mud, etc. Children enjoyed making pre-historic paints using natural ingredients and created a beautiful Pre-historic art using those natural paints. The children were introduced to different artists - Georges Seurat, Andy Goldsworthy etc. They were inspired with their art styles- Abstract Art. Children enjoyed using their techniques and presented their work in an artistic manner. Parent artists also shared their videos demonstrating their unique art work. Lingo Fest - It had been a high-spirited week in FS. FS2 children spoke about the colours and numbers in their native language. Day 1 - A day packed with activities ! The kids made words using playdough developing their literacy skills, they played a game of Word Hunt too. Most importantly, it was their dressing up day. Our little ones came dressed up as a special story character and shared their books with increasing confidence.
Day 2 - Our FS 2 children received a dear visit from their elder school mates. Our post 16 students joined FS 2 classes virtually to read different books generating interest in reading and developing listening and communicational skills. Day 3 - Our youngest learner met Ms. Piya Jayarajan , a published kids author and the parent of Advaith Arjun of FS2K . Ms. Piya shared her book with our young learners and she explained about the work of authors and illustrators. The creation and solving of cross words buzzles in FS 2 was EPIC ! Developing not only reading and writing skills but also higher order thinking. |
