World Diabetes Day is held on November 14th each year to commemorate the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting who co-discovered insulin in 1922. In FS2 children started the day with some physical exercise. They discussed the different ways to keep our body healthy. Later they enjoyed preparing and drinking a healthy cucumber and lemonade cooler.
Flag Day represents a wonderful opportunity to reflect on national values and share the culture and heritage of this great nation. The children were given an insight about UAE Flag Day and the importance of each colour in the flag. A carousel of interactive games and activities were conducted. The children in FS1 made a healthy treat using fruits and vegetables related to the colours the UAE flag. Each one created their own flag and enthusiastically waived their flags to show respect towards the nation. Children were engaged in many STREAM based activity. The full form of STREAM IS Science, Technology, Reading and Writing/Robotics, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Maths Day was conducted to introduce children to a variety of concepts, skills and thinking strategies. It gave the children an opportunity to find Maths everywhere around them through engaging activities. The activities enabled children to make sense of numbers, colours, size, patterns and shapes in the world around us. It helped to ignite the curiosity and enthusiasm for learning.Cyber bullying was introduced and discussed with FS 2 children through an animated story and songs. Children were educated about the different ways how they can protect themselves from being cyber bullied and how they can become a cyber super hero. Finally, the children took a short quiz about what they learnt and posted pictures of them during the lesson on the Padlet link.We observed the 29th Death anniversary of the Father of Dubai on 7th October 2020. The importance of this day was discussed as we shared the remarkable achievements made by HH Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum during his lifetime. He was the Vice-President and 2nd Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. In FS we celebrated Road safety day by engaging in various hands-on activities along with dancing to educational songs and videos which emphasised the importance of good road safety practices. The students created posters and props to showcase their understanding. They posted pictures and videos of their work on the Padlet link. SEWA means ‘Service Before Self.’ The FS2 Team marked Monday 5th of October 2020 as SEWA day- which was dedicated to all who work in Winchester. The children made ‘Thank you cards’, for our community helpers. The joy on each face was beyond imagination. They uploaded their work on the Padlet link. Science week was conducted in order to develop scientific temper, attitude and values such as open mindedness and intellect based on Investigation skills. The students acquired an understanding of the importance of the 5 senses. They came forward to take part in the activities with a lot of enthusiasm. Each activity was aimed to demonstrate, the importance and relevance of the senses; thus enhancing the critical thinking skills of the students. Peace day was established by the United Nations in 1981, to encourage the world to work together toward the goal of worldwide peace. All Teachers dressed in white as we celebrated International Peace day in FS 2. To help the children of FS2 understand the meaning of Peace, every class conducted various activities. The children sang songs and completed creative activities like poster making, painting, collage making etc. in their respective classes. They were encouraged to talk about Peace and express their views and feelings about how can they spread peace. |
